New Moon Down Under!
You’ve read SarahBella’s New Moon adventures (the lucky girl got an advanced screening ticket!). Now check out what our “overseas correspondent” Boxergirl had to say. Since she is in Austrailia, she got to see the movie 18 hours before even the lucky girls at the advanced screenings. Without further adieu, here are Boxergirl’s adventures. And stay tuned tomorrow for our fan reactions!
Aussie New Moon Opening night adventures!
The long awaited day had finally arrived and equally Twi-obssesed friend and I were super excited after such a long wait..
Being late to jump head first into the Twi-life neither of us had seen Twilight at the cinema so we had booked tickets to see it at 9.30pm, before New Moon. Arriving in plenty of time we had dinner (where fellow diners noted our ‘Team Edward’ apparel and cheered and clapped!) then took our seats buzzing with anticipation.
The atmosphere was electric, like that of a rock concert – something I had never experienced over a movie before last night.
The lights dimmed and we were away! Cheers rang out as Edward graced the screen and the mood was happy and light.
After Twilight due to a computer issue with the cinemas website (which allocated us from seat tickets – the horror!!!) we jumped in the car and headed off to another cinema for New Moon, which was due to start, for us, at 12.40am. At this cinema we were able to secure much better seats! Nothing would be getting in the way of our viewing pleasure!
Arriving at the cinema we were greeted by staff dressed as Volturi, red candles burning, buttons being handed out to patrons and gorgeous vines reminiscent of the forest and meadow strung around the foyer – we were so excited to see the effort they had put into the night!
We had chosen to pay $37 a ticket and see New Moon in a cinema with luxurious recliners that seated only 40 people (in the hope of avoiding screaming fan girls!!) and had waiter service – fantastic!!
As 12.40 rolled on we were giggling like schoolgirls and hushed as the lights dimmed – finally – as Alice would say – “It’s time”…
Over the next 2 hours we were treated to what we both thought was a fantastic movie. Great special effects, much more relaxed cast members sliding into their roles beautifully and action and emotion aplenty.
From the opening title to the very last dialogue I was glued to the screen, mesmerized by Edward, Bella, Jacob and the fabulous characters that make up the world of Twilight. Taylor was fantastic, and there was not a twitch in sight from Kristen (much to my relief!) and Rob…well Rob…
Many were worried Chris Weitz would lose the romance and emotion in his emphasis on the action sequences (some of which had me holding my breath!), however I believe he maintained both beautifully. I certainly felt it all: Bellas pain, Edwards pain, Jacobs pain and conflict – all of it was there for the viewer to feel along with the characters..
Maybe I was just so thrilled to finally be seeing New Moon that I was oblivious to any flaws??? But I don’t think so – time will tell with each viewing and as the whole world watches on…
So what can you all expect? Without giving anything away: a beautifully shot opening scene, heart wrenching emotion, heart stopping action, awesome effects, and a final scene leaving you wanting more. Immediately.
Enjoy! I know I cant wait to get back there Saturday for my second viewing!
