Happy Holidays!

I’m gonna screw up Sue’s post about not having anything new up until Tuesday, but it’s Christmas Eve and I wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone! Christmas is always bittersweet for me. Growing up in a broken home, we rarely had the storybook holiday you see on TV.

There is nothing better than losing yourself in a book. I don’t live with avid readers, so no one in my house really understands how I can start reading a book and not get up from the couch until I’m finished with it. I can’t explain to them with adequate words that I don’t just read books. I live them. All real readers do. We aren’t just reading words and getting the gist of the story. We’re living in the world the writer creates and we’re truly lost in that world. I don’t hear people when I’m reading. Even when that someone is right beside me, poking me and saying “Mom, Mom, Mom, Mom!” Lost is the only word that begins to describe my experience. I know there are lots of MVF members who share that passion with me.

I want to say thank you to Sue, Heather, and Sarah for allowing me to be one of MVF’s partners in crime. I want to thank all our other staff (Jules, Bears, Lexiecullen, BellaMarie, Lizbella, Kat and Pappy Dan) for joining us in our adventure. I also have to thank Jess, Meg, Sam, and Amber of Simply Twilight. This has been such a trip for me, and I’m looking forward to continuing on the journey. And thank you to all the members of MVF for giving us a reason to be here.
