As you indicated, one thing about this fandom is that it is more than just a fandom...it's a huge, far reaching community. The people in this fandom, specifically in the world of fan fic are volunteers to their passions. We all write, validate or read the stories because of our passion for them, not because we are getting paid to do it. To volunteer time or donate money to the above organizations just shows the incredible character of the entire community, one I am proud to be a part of.
