State of the Fandom

So, in light of recent events, I’m keeping this week’s ‘State of the Fandom’ a little bit on the fluffy side. I thought, ‘Hmm, what can I write about that will result in no one getting upset,” and came to the conclusion that it’s time to interview Edward. So, without further ado, the star of such epic fics as ‘The Dark Side of Twilight’, ‘The Summer of Twilight’, and many, many more to come, Edward Cullen!!!
SB – Hey, Edward! **beams** Thanks so much for agreeing to sit down with me today.
EC - It’s no trouble. I know things have been a little tense around here lately; I’m hoping we can bring a little levity to people’s lives.
SB – Edward, I was hoping we could start out with a few fan questions that we’ve gotten in reviews.
EC - Certainly, it’s your interview. I’m here to do your bidding.
SB – Erm, you realize that phrase could be misconstrued, right?
EC – Well, I should have realized that you could twist my words…
SB – OK, moving right along. The first question I have for you is ‘why doesn’t your family own a private jet’? It would make life so much easier.
EC – True, it would make certain things easier- reaching Isle Esme, for example. Unfortunately, it would also draw a significant amount of attention to my family, which, as your readers know, is the opposite of what we are trying to accomplish.
SB – Oh, good point. I suppose a jet is hard to hide. Though, it’s not as if you’d keep it at the house.
EC – **laughs** No, not even in Rosalie’s enormous garage, but simply having it in the family name could cause problems down the line.
SB – That is certainly true! **Stares, dazzled, into Edwards amber eyes**
EC – **Waves hand in front of Sarah’s face** Sarah? Are you all right?
SB – **Fans self** No, I think I may need you to kiss me – carry me – erm, I’ll shut up now. Can we pretend that didn’t happen? OK? OK. Now, back to the subject at hand. My next point of interest. Someone posed the question of me as to whether or not I believe vampires imprint. Personally, I think it’s something else entirely. What’s your take on it?
EC – Well, I tend to agree with your assessment; it is something else entirely. Our physical make up is set in stone, so to speak, when we are changed. The change that we undergo is entirely mental. Once we meet our mate, they become the center of our universe. It’s something that is entirely impossible to explain to someone who has never experienced it.
SB - Well, fine, then. Keep your secrets! **laughs** Let’s try this one. Have you ever had a fantasy so intense, so out there, so embarrassing, you weren’t willing to share it even with your journal?
EC – Well, I think I’m on the losing end of this question regardless of my answer. If I say no, you’ll accuse me of holding back, but if I say yes and refuse to tell you the fantasy, you’ll accuse me of holding back. Therefore, to save myself from persecution, I’m going to plead the fifth and just let your imagination wander. **smirks**
SB – And we all know the kinds of places that my imagination wanders to! **laughs**OK, Edward, we’ve got time for a few more questions here. How much fun was Francis? He’s really popular with the readers; did you guys enjoy him as well as we did?
EC – Oh, absolutely. He is so kind and compassionate. Your readers can definitely expect to see a bit more of Francis in the near future.
SB – Exactly how much ‘more’ are we talking here?
EC – Well, he appears in two more chapters, and I think there may even be a bit more than that. That’s all I’m saying or Esme will yell at me for spoiling the suspense.
SB – Ok, Edward, last question. What was your favorite memory from ‘The Summer of Twilight?’ If it’s something we haven’t seen yet don’t tell us.
EC – I am especially partial to the recreation of my fantasy we did at the meadow. To this day, I’m not sure if Bella realizes that we actually recreated the first real fantasy I had of her – the poetry, the napping, me feeding her. The only thing missing was my own mortality. But I wouldn’t change a thing; that kind of memory will sustain me happily for a very long time to come.
SB – Edward, you are just sweet as sugar! Thank you so much for talking to me today. Do you think we could do it again sometime?
EC – Absolutely. Although, I don’t promise to answer all of your questions then, either. **smirks**
Loved it, oh how I would love to have been in the room with you and dear Edward. Although, I must admit, I might not have been able to keep my questions so chaste! He probably would have had to plead the fifth several times!
My imagination sure is wandering Edward!
