Wicked Wednesday

When lemons are involved, who cares about the team?

I’ll keep this little blog post short so that we can get right on with the interview this week!

Remember, the content of this feature is for those of you 18 and older, so please only continue if you are of age!

During this weeks interview KatKennedy and I ended up discussing our “teams” and so I reflected a bit on this phenomenon.  First off, the one area I find that teams do not apply is when it comes to writing lemons.  Practically every pairing you can imagine is out there, and if you want it, you can probably find it.

I’ve read my fair share of lemony goodness and I do not discriminate when it comes to pairings.  What I’ve learned is that if it’s well written and sets your girly parts aflame, it doesn’t really matter who it is you’re reading about.  Agree?  Disagree?  I’d love to hear it!

Without further ado, the highlights from my interview with this weeks Wicked Wednesday author, KatKennedy! (Yep, you’re just getting highlights because otherwise you’ll be reading the story on Thursday.)

I was thrilled to chat with Kat. She is the author of the Indie nominated Lost in Meyer. For our chat we met in the middle of our separate hemispheres and found that, despite the distance, the two of us had a quite a bit in common; I fell pretty hard for her.. We covered a bevy of fascinating topics from “snippets” to “manharems” and hilarity ensued – spankings included. Check out the interview I never wanted to end.

Jules:  So, since you were just interviewed for the Indies (congrats!) I will try not to ask the same questions.

KK:   okies – no prob!

Jules:  First off…LOVED your submission for this week!

KK: Aw thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it.

Jules:  I read it at work…hopefully I didn’t blush too much.

KK:  Hehe, well I thought the point WAS to make you blush ;)

Jules:  I have a really good poker face thanks to reading lemons at work, but the blushing is hard to avoid.

KK:  Then you’re doing better than I do; I still have to write lemons with my eyes closed. I’m terrible at them – luckily my betas are…uh, very enthusiastic about lemons.

Jules:  We read in your Twilight Indies Interview about how you discovered fan fiction…have you written for any other fandoms?

KK:  I used to write for the Harry Potter fandom years ago. That was a great learning experience

Jules:   You currently have two completed fics and one work in progress, have you had any thoughts about continuing after that?

KK:  Well, I always have story ideas in my head. I’m working on my own original story as well. My betas and I are throwing around an idea for another story after I finish The Hotel Meyer.

Jules:  Was Twilight your first foray into vampire fiction? Has it opened you up to any other series?

KK:  It was my first foray into the written vampire world. I had enjoyed Buffy The Vampire Slayer as a teenager. But yes, I suppose Twilight has been the gateway drug to my vampire addiction, only now it’s a paranormal romance addiction. I love, love, love the Fever Series and The Black Dagger Brotherhood.  And Sookie Stackhouse

Jules:   Oh, this interview could go for hours if we start talking about the brothers…

KK:  Oh, don’t get me started, I’ll drool all over my keyboard!

Jules:  So who’s your brother of choice?

KK:  You have to tell me who your favourite brother is though – before we continue

Zsadist – it will always be Zsadist I think

Jules:  Great minds…I’m stuck between Vishous and Zsadist

KK:  Yes, V is my second choice!

Jules:  Ahhhhhh, girl after my own heart. I thought I was solidly in camp “Z” until I got to know “V.”

KK:  We need to run away together and drool together.

Jules: Are you reading any fan fic currently? Any recommendations?

KK:  Well, as I said in my Indies Interview, Amicus Curiae by Aussie_Gal is lovely.  Healing Perfection by Squarepancake is also owning me right now.  Unfortunately I don’t get a lot of time to read FF. Not nearly as much as I’d like.

Jules:  Tell me about it…So let’s talk about your Wicked Wednesday’s story…what inspired it?

KK:  My lovely beta Roni is the biggest Team Jacob person I know – and that’s saying something.  So I promised I’d do a Jacob/Bella one day for her.

Jules:  Ahhhhhhh, I was wondering what inspired the pairing!

KK:  The inspiration for the wedding came from my husband and I actually attending the wrong wedding last week and feeling very, very stupid about it. I’m not usually team Jacob but my love for Roni will make me do many things!

Jules:  That’s actually hilarious!  I think you resolved the non-canon pairing pretty well.  I was sold and I’m solidly Team Edward.

KK:  Personally, I think I liked Edward being gay just a little. I smell some Jasper/Edward O/S coming up.

Jules:  Oooh – that’s actually quite a popular pairing!

KK:   I know! They’d be cute together.

Jules:   It’s funny…I love Jake, LOVE, but the one person I never want to put him with is Bella, it’s so strange. But I adored what you did with them. Your writing is wickedly funny and absolutely panty-dropping hot!

KK:  Ha! I can’t take all the credit for it! Roni did get a little more involved in her job than she usually does!

Jules:  That’s alright…I rely on my pre-readers and betas so much.

KK:  Yes, betas are everything to me. If I didn’t have a good team around I’d probably drown in tense disagreements

Jules:  So, since we’re talking “teams”:  Angel or Spike

KK:  Ah! That’s a hard one! Also totally not a fair question!

Jules:   Oh, you have no idea what’s coming up.

KK:  Okay, I’m team Buffy/Angel – because they make each other miserable. I’m team Spike for me.

Jules:   I’m so in love with Spike

KK:  I know… oh yes… you don’t need to explain that one to me, I’m right there with you.

Jules: Spike, V, Z, Edward – a perfect quartet for this little Cali girl.

KK:  Haha! My manharem also includes Eric *drools*

Jules:  Yes! Manharem!

KK:  Mine is large and extensive

Jules:  Okay, I see your point…there’s always room for more

KK:  Well there’s a lot of job vacancies in a manharem, like grape-peeler, lotion applier…

Jules:  Okay, how about you pick the top three Vamps in your manharem

KK:  GAH! NOW you’re asking difficult questions, Eric, Edward, (Tossing up between V and Z….)Z!

Jules: This is a sort of tradition for the Wicked Wednesdays interview…you are going to kill me for the next one.

KK:  Oh noes!

Jules:  Out of those three who would you: Marry, Kill & Fuck? I know…unfair but I didn’t start this…

KK:  THAT’S THE MOST EVIL QUESTION OF ALL! :P – It’s okay, Jules – since I’m aiming to end up in bed with you, I’ll answer it.

Jules:  Blame Sirenastarot – she started it

KK:  Oh, I’ve got a whip and spreader bars with her name on it.

Jules:  And you’re not a solid V girl?

KK:  Okay I think I would… MARRY Edward, Fuck Eric (several times right? This isn’t a one time deal, no?)

Jules:  It’s definitely not a one time deal!

KK:  and kill V (for getting with Jane instead of actively seducing Butch). *I was so taken with Kat, I didn’t realize she switched her last choice!*

Jules:  I could totally be a scout for your “manharem” make sure all the harem members were up to snuff.

KK:  Well, there is a position open for Manslave tester.

Jules:   SWEET! Consider it filled

KK:  I could totally interview you for the position.

Jules:  I could TOTALLY blow you away so you would have no choice but to hire me.

KK:  You already do, darling!

Jules: *Blush*

KK:  I think you’ve got just the right stuff! Looks at Jules stuff and blushes, okay, sorry!  Forgot myself again!

Jules:  There are no apologies in this chat.

KK:  Haha! Excellent grins evilly and reaches for the spanking paddle.

Jules:  So is there a specific snippet of Wedding Fever you would like me to highlight? A reliable source told me you liked the word snippet!

KK:   Haha! Snippet is a fantastic word.

Jules:  Isn’t it though?

KK:  It’s brilliant – downright filthy!

Random conversation takes place while Kat looks for her “snippet;” I ask her to use the word “snippet” in a filthy way upon her return.

KK:  I just have trouble finding “snippets: Like you! You tender little snippet! (See I used snippet in a naughty way.)

I had so much fun chatting with Kat; I can’t wait to do it again. Forget the snippet, just go read her story Wedding Fever in the dungeon!

Until next Wednesday loverlies!

  1. PMSL! A great interview with a great author!

Jules, you are so fighting me for that position on Kat’s manharem!

Kat, thanks once again for writing a Jacob FF. In spite of all my urging, blackmailing and nagging I never really thought that you would and I am ecstatic with the result! I am at your feet! Or on the spreader bar, whatever…

    Hugs, Roni x
