Amazing fandom = Amazing friends

I have some pretty amazing friends, I must say.  This past weekend, Megsly flew in from North Carolina to spend the weekend with me, and Saluki drove down for the girls weekend.  We met up with some more of our friends and had a pretty great time. It was so much fun to lounge around and talk about fanfic (and whatever else came to mind).  We took in a movie, chilled at a coffee house, went to the spillway for a picnic lunch, and just overall enjoyed hanging out together.

I also have some absolutely beautiful friends who have gone out of their way to do things that have made me deliriously happy.  Originally, I had planned to go to Houston TwiTour this past weekend, to hang out with three of my friends (that I have made through the Twilight fandom), but when money didn’t pan out, they took along Sue-on-a-stick.

Sue-on-a-stick gets around quite a bit too. Knowing how deep my love for Felix and Demetri goes, they kindly introduced the actors to Sue-on-a-stick, and even got Daniel Cudmore and Charlie Bewley to pose with the on-a-stick version of myself:

Even though it’s silly, I think that is just too cool. How many people take pictures of their friends on popsicle sticks and ask the actors to pose with them? It’s just fun. And of course, it makes me smile because I just absolutely adore Charlie, Daniel and their characters.

Well, this weekend was already a pretty epic one as far as fun times and good friends are concerned, but Saturday night really took the cake. Megsly, Saluki, myself and two other good friends met up for dinner & drinks at the local Buffalo Wild Wings. Unbeknownst to us, there was also a UFC fight going on the same night so the place was packed and loud. We were finishing up our dinner and getting ready to head outside for some post-dinner cocktails when I noticed a text from a number I wasn’t familiar with. I had just got a new phone on Thursday and only had few numbers programmed in already. The text was a little silly, and while I was pretty sure who it was, I thought it might also be someone messing with me. I excused myself to go to the bathroom, where I called the number back because curiosity was killing me. The phone number belonged to my friend who was at TwiTour in Houston, and at the exact time I called, she just happened to be in a meet & greet with some of the actors. Because my friends are awesome like that, she handed the phone over to one of them. I ran outside so I could hear, and when I got to a quiet spot in the parking lot, I nearly had a heart attack at the sound of the voice on the other end of the phone.

It was Charlie Bewley!

Once I realized who it was, I got pretty quiet, which is pretty unusual for me. He proceeded to ask questions, which I answered, and over the course of the next 5 minutes or so we had a pretty spirited conversation. I’m not going to actually post the complete conversation, because: A) I don’t remember much of it, and B) what I do remember is kind of embarrassing. Truth be told, as much as I hated ending the conversation, I also hated the idea of stealing my friends’ time in the meet and greet. After I hung up the phone, I sat in the parking lot for a minute to soak in what had just happened. By the time I walked on shaky legs back into the restaurant, my friends were wondering what had happened to me. I walked to the table, threw my phone down and said, “I just talked to Charlie Bewley on the phone.” At that point, the screams from my table were so loud, it actually drowned out the shouts from the UFC fight.

In the end, it was a pretty awesome night. I mean, yeah, I didn’t actually meet Charlie, but it was really cool that he would even be willing to talk to me on the phone, not to mention how cool it was for my friend to even answer while she was in the meet & greet. Needless to say, it made my night, even if it is funny that a 31 year old woman would get all shaky after talking to an actor from the Twilight films.

So, to my friends (you know who you are, you fabulous ladies), thanks for being the most amazing amazings who ever amazed and giving me the opportunity to talk to Charlie. To Mike Welch and Christopher Heyerdahl, thanks for giving me a good chuckle, and laughing when I said I needed to do a shot after the conversation. And of course, thanks to Charlie for simply being Charlie, and for giving up five minutes of your Saturday night to make a silly woman happy. Big hugs to you all!

You know I wish I was there! All in all I think I squealed as loud as the girls you were with did when I saw your text.

My friends from the “fandom” have become some of my besties and there isn’t anyway that’s changing.

I have to say that when you threw your phone down on the table, I was so not expecting the next words out of your mouth to be “I just talked to Charlie Bewley”. We did get a few odd looks at the sound of four girls squeeing at an obscene decibel *lol*

I’m so happy you were able to talk to him and think it’s so awesome that he took the time to have a conversation with you.
