Introducing…Team MVF!

I have been watching the FandomGivesBack auctions for the past couple of days and I have to admit, I smile every time I see an update about the funds raised to date for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. It gives me the warm fuzzies to see how many people have joined this cause to help children in need.
As SarahBella mentioned yesterday, there are currently 630 different items up for auction, with 474 of those items being fan fiction stories. Some from our favorite authors and some from authors that are less known or even unknown.
As a fan fiction author, I decided to get involved in TFGB because my budget is tight and I wanted to do something, even if I couldn’t donate or purchase an auction. I would wager to bet many of the authors who have put themselves up for auction are in the same situation. It’s wonderful to see how many people will donate either money or time to help those less fortunate.
Something that completely wowed be yesterday was when I saw the bids some of the more well known authors had received for outtakes from their stories. Yesterday, I noticed one of them was up to $5,500!! That’s a lot of scratch, kids! Just imagine what a donation like that can do to help a family in need of medical assistance!
I also noticed that there were several authors who had no bids, and some of them only started out at .99cents. That is when Team MVF was born. At MyVampFiction we have a passion for all things vampire, and that of course, includes TwiFic. We love to root for the underdog, and we love to discover new and lesser read fics, because let’s face it, there is a treasure trove of amazing fics out there that don’t have as much traffic as others. Of course, all fics have to start out somewhere as do all authors, so in keeping with our mission to highlight the “underdog” we have decided to create Team MVF in order to bid on the unknown and lesser known authors. We are excited to see what their imagination will bring us if we are lucky enough to win the auctions!
The goal of Team MVF is to bid on auctions that have little to no bids, in order to give the hard wording authors the recognition they deserve. If you are interested in donating to FandomGivesBack, but don’t have enough to bid on an author, consider donating a dollar or two or whatever you feel you can afford, for this effort. As much as we adore the hugely popular stories and the authors who write them (their stories are on our favorites list too. *lol*), we also want to highlight the lesser known authors whenever we can. What better way to do that than for this extremely worthy cause? Should Team MVF win any of our bids, we will share the stories with each person who donated. If Team MVF does not win any of the bids, or we have leftover donations, we will use the funds donated to make a straight donation to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. In short, ALL of the funds contributed to Team MVF will go toward helping defeat childhood cancer.
We hope you will consider joining Team MVF. If you would like more information on how to donate to Team MVF for the FandomGivesBack and Alex’s Lemonade Stand, email us at admin@myvampfiction.com and we will instruct you further. If you can’t donate and you haven’t signed up to auction off a story, you can always help by ReTweeting. Follow @fgbauthors on twitter and RT their updates, which come complete with link to the various auction listings.
If you are interested in bidding, don’t forget, we are auctioning off Author Spotlights. There are only three left!
It’s an amazing feeling to be able to give something, anything toward this worthwhile cause. I do know a family affected by childhood cancer, I wanted to help. I’m writing an outtake for FGB.
*claps* I love this idea and applaud you guys for doing it. It’s hard to be seen and heard when the teams are so prevalent. I so tweeting this!
