Affiliate Spotlight: Altered Lions & Sacrificial Lambs
interview by SusanAshlea
Altered Lions & Sacrificial Lambs is one of the funnest Twilight fanfic related blogs out there, and we are fortunate at MVF to count them among our affiliates. These ladies are smart, funny, opinionated and they all love their lemons. Since they launched, they have developed one a wonderful following and it’s one of the best places in the fandom to get fanfic recommendations.
A few months ago, I was lucky enough to have a “chatterview” with JaspersDestiny and Kaylene where we talked about pretty much anything and everything. I also sent them some extra questions that the other ladies who work at the site were able to chip in on. We talked for hours, and the result was a 22 page interview. We are splitting it up into 3 parts, so sit back with a cuppa joe, put your feet up, and enjoy these awesome women from ALASL.
This interview is NC-17, so please don’t read unless you are of age. Kthx. If you are old enough to buy smokes n porn, please read on. We picked up right where we left of with our analysis of the men of Twilight.
JaspersDestiny: I’m old enough to do Charlie, but not Jasper…or even Peter…*sobs*
Susan: I like Peter Facinelli, but I’m a little afraid of Jennie Garth kicking my ass. How about Billy? snort
JaspersDestiny: Just show Jennie Rodeo Drive and you’re clear! BILLY? Naw…
Susan: Yeah, sure. He needs some love.
JaspersDestiny: He’s…Jake’s dad…and Charlie’s beer buddy…and…Kay, do you have that pic Lucy sent? http://alasl.freeforums.org/download/file.php?id=50
Kaylene: Oh, dear God. Perfect.
JaspersDestiny: LOL
Susan: Oh, my…that is hilarious. Poor Billy.
JaspersDestiny: Billy to me is sexy….but he is soooo….canon as he is. He’s not BAD looking.
Kaylene: Billy. I have nothing to say. He’s just…a tree…in the background…
JaspersDestiny: LOL
Susan: How about Jacob?
JaspersDestiny: Jacob is HAWT HAWT HAWT HAWT HAWT HAWT HAWT HAWT HAWT HAWT HAWT HAWT. If I was younger, Taylor would have a stalker issue.
Susan: Tell me how you really feel…
JaspersDestiny: LOL
Kaylene: Jacob is…yeah. He’s okay when he’s not imprinting on devil spawn.
Susan: Oh no…Nessie isn’t devil spawn. I like her. Who wouldn’t want to live forever, be super strong, inhumanly beautiful, look 21 for eternity, and get to screw Jacob?
Kaylene: Oh no, I think he should have been with Leah. Not imprinted at all.
JaspersDestiny: Leah…poor Leah.
Susan: I love me some Post BD Jacob/Nessie fic.
JaspersDestiny: I think Nessie is okay, but it was Stephenie’s way to end the story that pisses people off. Too clean of an ending for everyone involved…
Susan: Waxing Crescent and IPoN are soooo good
JaspersDestiny: Leah and Jacob FTW!
Susan: Haha…
Kaylene: I think, though, that if Stephenie ever does write anything else based on Twilight, it will be Nessie/Jacob based.
Susan: In my story, Leah imprints on a hybrid, haha. And, I agree, I would LOVE a Jacob/Nessie series.
JaspersDestiny: HMMM…
Kaylene: I love the rapport, though, that he had with Edward in the last book. It slayed me. It made me really appreciate him.
Susan: I still choke up when Edward calls him “son” gah
JaspersDestiny: Jacob in BD is awesome…the humour! Son? No…. My favourite is Jake as the personal floor space heater in Eclipse. But, it’s part of the reason I don’t like Edward canon…he’s so…stuck up…and old-man-ish. Son…it’s something a grandpa would say…
Susan: Well, he IS an old man.
JaspersDestiny: True…LOL
Susan: Okay, so….on to the Volturi! I don’t really like them that much, so I put them off until last.
JaspersDestiny: *snort*…Demetri…Felix…Marcus. NO, to Aro.
Susan: Caius?
JaspersDestiny: Caius could be interesting if done well… He’s an enigma, truly. He’s the Volturi’s Jasper, minus the empath abilities. And I like Alec, if he’s ‘older’.
Kaylene: Felix, Demetri, Marcus, Caius, Aro – in that order.
Susan: I like Aro. I think he’s….interesting.
JaspersDestiny: You know which Aro I liked? THIS was fascinating for me

Susan: I’m bookmarking now.
JaspersDestiny: And have you read http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5663277/1/The_Minds_Eye ?
Susan: KariAnn writes an amazing Felix. I’m jealous. My favorite of the IGO entries was Apples & Cinnamon.
JaspersDestiny: I didn’t rec that one…but I did like it. I think Kay might have rec’d that one. Which fic by KariAnn?
Susan: In Pursuit of Normalcy.
Kaylene: Yep, I did Apples and Cinnamon.
JaspersDestiny: Kay, you have to read Sonata…
Kaylene: Okay. I’ll list it.
JaspersDestiny: Sulpicia is really looked at in Sonata. It would be a good rec for you at MVF.
Susan: I’ve bookmarked Sonata. I’m going to check it out.
JaspersDestiny: For the humans, though…I just can’t.
Susan: Haha, no secret love for Mike Newton?
JaspersDestiny: It’s bizarre. The closest I got to a human love idea was Golden Moon with Mike Newton.
Susan: What about Eric Yorkie. Don’t deny it…
JaspersDestiny: I can’t come up with an Eric in my head. He wasn’t Asian in the books, but he was in the film…so I can’t envision him.
Susan: Same here. I think he’s an amalgamation of Eric and Ben Cheney.
JaspersDestiny: Yeah, human month will be interesting…I’m going to try to stick with the real humans.
Kaylene: Human month. I’m not afraid to admit that I’ll be using AH stories.
Susan: I can’t wait. How do you decide which character group to do each month? Do you think you’ll ever revisit the same character?
JaspersDestiny: We pre-decide. We will cycle through. Once we have done our full cycle, we repeat. The Nomads, though…
Susan: Oooh, Nomads!
JaspersDestiny: Peter (thanks, Kay!) has taken off running. He could warrant his own month at some point.
Kaylene: Nomads… *grins widely*
Susan: Do you try to stick with canon stories, or do you each just read and rec what you like?
JaspersDestiny: For each character, or group of characters, we just read and rec what we each like. I may venture into some AH…but…
Kaylene: I’m diverse. I’ll read a little bit of anything if the summary grabs me or the first few chapters do. I try to read more into just one because you just never know…
Susan: What is your favorite part of writing for the blog?
JaspersDestiny: Just the camaraderie and the fun we have on the blog is what I love. The irreverence sometimes…you know? It gives you a sense of togetherness that you don’t have as a lone reader…
Kaylene: What she said.
Susan: It’s fun to have discovered this community, isn’t it? Frustrations aside, I’ve met some awesome people through this fandom.
Kaylene: Oh, yes. Not just because it’s given us more stories based on Twilight, but because it’s even taught some of us how to write.
JaspersDestiny: Yes! It’s very fun. And just I hate when it becomes too ‘business’, like with the drama. But sometimes you need to create drama to keep the fun going…unfortunately.
Susan: I never would have learned to love writing so much (although it can be a love/hate thing sometimes) if it weren’t for Twilight..
