Casting with Sassy

Hello and welcome to Sassy Says.
I’d like to take some time to talk about the excitement building up about the Vampire Academy movie. A good friend and one of our dungeon authors, Cedward, turned me onto these books, and I have just absorbed them one after the other.
With the recent announcement from Richelle Mead that Vampire Academy was going to be made into a movie, the gears in my head stared working. So, I am going to share my Dreamcast of who I think would be excellent in the roles for the movie.
So, without further ado, I present Sassy’s Vampire Academy Dreamcast!
Rosemarie ‘Rose’ Hathaway:

Actress: Leighton Meester
Known For: Gossip Girl, Date Night
Why: Leighton Meester to me looks like a young Eliza Dushku, who I thought of as rose as I was reading the books. Leighton is a strong willed female character on Gossip Girl, and I feel she would be awesome as Rose.
Vasalisa ‘Lissa’ Dragomir:

Actress: Amanda Seyfried
Known For: Mean Girls, Mamma Mia, Letters to Juliet, Dear John
Why: The girl is meant to be a Moroi. She has the look of Lissa, and she has the acting ability to pull it off. Love this girl, and I think she’d make an amazing Lissa.
Dimitri Belikov:

Actor: Steven Strait
Known For: The Covenant, Sky High, 10,000 BC, and Undiscovered
Why: He was honestly my first choice when I read twilight to play Jacob Black. All that aside, when I read VA I imagined him as Dimitri. He can pull off longer hair well, he’s the right age, and I think he’s just damn sexy. My only concern would be if he could do a slight Russian accent.
Christian Ozera:

Actor: Nicholas Hoult
Known For: About A Boy, A Single Man, and Skins
Why: Nicholas Hoult has grown up to be super-adorable. He is smaller, so he would fit the Moroi build, and he has the perfect blue eyes and darker hair for the role of Christian. His looks are more European, so I think he would make an excellent Christian. He just has that British accent. It hasn’t stopped another actor we know from playing an American vampire…
Victor Dashkov:

Actor: Gary Oldman
Known For: Harry Potter, The Fifth Element, and Dracula
Why: The man is a genious. He can play ANYTHING. Known for his villainous roles, he would start out perfectly as a sickly old man who makes the perfect plot twist. I think he would make a perfect Victor.
Natalie Dashkov:

Actress: Rumer Willis
Known For: Sorority Row, The House Bunny
Why: Natalie is supposed to be awkwardly royal, talking too much, and not fitting in with everyone else. Rumer Willis is perfect, in the way that she’s awkwardly trying to fit in with the Hollywood elite, and she’s making great strides as an actress. Some jade colored contacts and I think she would be perfect as Natalie.
Mia Rinaldi:

Actress: Taylor Swift
Known For: Valentine’s Day, Popular Country Singer.
Why: I am going to get the most heat for this. But, hear me out. She’s got the hair, She’s got the look, she’s slender like a Moroi, and honestly, when I read Mia, I thought of her instantly. Her scenes in Valentine’s Day weren’t horrible, and I think she could do the role of Mia justice.
And that is that! I hope you guys enjoy who I think will be a great cast. Feel free to comment, and change my mind as to why you think you have a better choice!
And that’s what Sassy Says!
I think mia needs to be played by someone younger
Now when I read the books, I’ll have the characters already pictured in my mind. Thanks, Sassy!
I love, love, LOVE all of your suggestions Sassy! Awesome column!
Ok, so I love your pick for Lissa; I never would have thought of her, but she is perfect. I have to disagree with Rose and Dimitri. The only person I can picture as Dimitri is Daniel Cudmore. The closest I can picture Rose is Lucy Hale who plays Aria on Pretty Little Liars. Everyone else I think are pretty good casting! Thanks Sassy!
I love your pics…except I always picture Dimitri as Marshall Marshall from “In Plain Sight”
I am anxious for this to be a movie!!
I love your cast. How can you get into the casting room, hmm?
I haven’t read the books but this makes me want to!
I always love what Sassy has to sass about.
