Sassy Says watch Supernatural for the hot boys…er, story

About two years ago I was pursuing the Target down the street from my house. Being a big geek I naturally always check every aisle in the Electronics section. The T.V. & DVD section of Target always has some great deals.

I had heard great things from some other Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans about Supernatural, and seeing as how it was $15.00 for the first season, I decided why the hell not.

Let me tell you how happy I was that I made that $15.00 purchase. Not only is the story amazing, but also there are HOT BOYS. HOT BOYS THAT FIGHT DEMONS. Yes. The gay boy nerd inside of me rejoiced after watching the first few episodes.

I’m going to give a brief summary of the show’s Pilot, and hope it perks the interest of some of you who enjoy hot boys… err, supernatural stories and demon hunters and stuff. Once again, as with most Sassy Says there are Spoiler’s ahoy, for the entire first episode.

The story starts out in Lawrence, Kansas where Mary Winchester investigates a sound coming from her infant son Sam’s nursery. She sees a figure standing over his crib, and confronts him. Her husband, John is awoken by her screams and finds her pinned to the ceiling with a slash across her stomach. She bursts into flames, and John is forced to evacuate the house with Sam and his older son, Dean.

Twenty-two years later, Sam and his girlfriend Jessica Moore celebrate Sam’s high LSAT score.. Later that night, Dean shows up at Sam’s home. Though the brothers have not spoken in years, Dean comes looking for help in finding their father, who disappeared while hunting a supernatural entity. After Sam hears a voicemail from his father that contains electronic voice phenomenon of a woman saying, “I can never go home,” he agrees to help Dean in the search. The brothers head to their father’s last known whereabouts where he had been investigating the disappearances of young men along a single stretch of road over ten years. Sam and Dean research a local legend of a murdered girl who has returned as a killer hitchhiking ghost. Their Research points to Constance Welch, who committed suicide off of a nearby bridge after drowning her children. While they stakeout the bridge that night, Sam tells Dean he does not want to return to hunting supernatural creatures. He points out that finding whatever creature killed their mother will not bring her back. A ghostly woman jumping off the bridge interrupts the two. Sam and Dean later check into a local motel, and discover their father is also renting a room there. They break into it and discover his research scattered all over the room. His findings point to Constance being a Woman in White.

When Dean leaves the room to get food, the police, who believe he is connected to the disappearances, arrest him. At the police station, they show him John’s journal, and he notices the message “Dean 35-111″ written inside it. While Dean is interrogated, Sam tracks down Constance’s husband, and learns the locations of both her gravesite and the house in which she drowned their children. Sam fakes a 911 call so Dean can escape the police station. However, Constance targets Sam in his car. Constance attempts to seduce him and requests he take her home. Sam doesn’t protest and reluctantly accepts her offer. She attacks him once they arrive at her old house. Dean forces her to temporarily dissipate by shooting her with rock salt, and Sam uses the opportunity to crash the car into the house. Constance reappears and attacks them, but the spirits of her children confront her. They embrace their mother, and the family disappears.

Dean deduces John’s message was coordinates to where he has headed. Sam is still adamant about not wanting to join the search, so Dean drops him off at his apartment. Lying alone in bed, Sam discovers Jessica pinned to the ceiling with a slash across her stomach. She ignites into flames as Dean breaks in and rescues Sam. While firefighters attempt to put out the inferno, Sam decides to join his brother in the search for their father and the creature that killed their mother and Jessica.

And that’s the first episode of Supernatural in a nutshell! I really hope some of you are able to watch the show, or I’ve at least piqued some interest. Did I mention it had hot boys?

And that’s what Sassy Says

  1. Lisa- there are women in it too! Hot Demon Women!

Sue- I think you’d enjoy it.

  2. That’d be awesome! Then I could catch up and enjoy the supernatural fantasticness without having to watch it. I have enough shit on my two (yes, two) TIVO’s to keep me coach potato busy for months. ;)

    Thanks doll,

    Lisa,
I’m more than happy to email you my running commentary when I decide to watch them! *lol*

  4. Okay, I have to admit that I’ve never actually watched the show even though I’ve had several friends rave about it. Here’s the thing, I read a lot of books with hot guys that can make a girl weak in the knees and my husband really benefits from those books as I obviously work out all my tingly girlie parts on him when I read a hot scene. But we watch TV together. We sit down and snuggle and watch shows that we both enjoy. Somehow, I think a show where the main characters are two ridiculously hot guys with supernatural fighting skills to boot would be something I would enjoy – but him? Not so much regardless of the benefits he would reap. So I’ve avoided it.

And I’ve been seriously tempted because as a life long Days of our Lives (no matter how bad it sucks a lot of the time) watcher – Jensen Ackles is seriously one of my all time favorite characters on that show. I want Sammie’s twin Eric to come back – like NOW even as unlikely as that is because Jensen is now a star in his own right with an uber loving fan base.

So yeah, tempted but can’t. My husband is secure in how much he turns me on and how much I adore him – but TV time (which we watch entirely too many shows thanks to TIVO) is OUR time, and on certain shows it’s also time with our kids. For example: Amazing Race is a show that my husband and kids are so excited about it starting again that they were all bouncing in anticipation last night because we were going to watch it together.

I appreciate the hotness that is the Supernatural dream duo of boys – but I have to pass on watching it. I’ll enjoy hearing about it though. I can live vicariously through all you avid watchers. ;)

    ~Lisa

I have checked out the first few episodes of this show, thanks to Netflix, but it was awhile ago. I think I might have to go back and watch again because yes, Sam & Dean are hot.
