Author Spotlight: Bforqueen

Bforqueen was recently a co-winner for the Volturi Fan Fiction Challenge held back in June and July. Part of her prize was an author spotlight on the blog. I have already rec’d each of her stories this morning, no take a look at the woman behind the Volturi. I give you….Bforqueen!
SusanAshlea: How did you discover Twilight and the fandom?
Bianca: Twilight got my attention through the media. I’ve always been into vampires, and I started reading right before the first movie came out. The fandom I discovered because of my need to find an alternate ending to Breaking Dawn. I wasn’t happy with it at all and started searching the web. I came across Twlighted and started reading. Slowly, I became involved with the forum there and a little while after I joined Twitter. With the encouragement of my friends there I was able to write and publish my first fic. I LOVE Twitter and all my fandom friends, it’s a good place.
SA: Tell us about your first fic, Fallen Princess. How did you get the idea for it?
Bianca: The Volturi have always been the most intriguing characters for me in the Saga. I have a soft spot for everything evil and I would’ve loved to have seen more of them. One late night I was in bed, listening to music. Coma White by Marilyn Manson was playing and for some reason it inspired a scene in my head. I started thinking what it would be like to grow up amongst them, especially as a semi-normal girl, with no powers whatsoever. So I created Luciana and it snowballed from there. I decided to make her Caius’ daughter, because I needed her to have the worst possible start in life. The Volturi are far from the ideal family, and I kind of love playing with that.
SA: Aside from Luciana, your original character, who is your favorite character to write in Fallen Princess?
Bianca: As if you don’t know….That would be Felix. Originally Felix was not meant to have as big as a role as he eventually did. He was meant to be as bad as Demetri, possibly worse, but after reading Finding Forever (by SusanAshlea) there was just no way I could do that. Then he grew more and more important and I actually had doubts about my orginal ending.I’m glad I decided to keep it though. This way I can write even more Felix in Absolution.
SA:It’s no secret how I feel about Felix, so I’m glad you went this direction. Tell us a little bit about how Absolution came about.
Bianca: When the time came for Lucy to leave Volterra behind, I knew Felix would be heartbroken. I couldn’t leave him like that, so I decided to write a companion giving my readers the other side of the story. I was actually surprised with how much Lucy had missed. She’s young, sheltered and slightly naive, but with Felix you get the real version. You finally get to see what went on behind the scenes, what happened when they left Lucy alone in the castle for a week. You also get to see just how evil Aro actually is. Plus, Demetri through Felix’ eyes is slightly different than the rose-colored version Lucy showed us. It’s actually become vital to Fallen Princess, at some point one will not make sense without the other.
SA: Tell us a little about your writing process. You’re fairly prolific; how do you do it?
Bianca: It’s all there, in my head. I don’t do outlines; I’m without a doubt the most chaotic person you’ll ever meet. So when something’s there, I have to get it out. There have been some times when I’m stuck and have no idea what to do, but I always force myself to write. I have a close circle of friends, who are all very invested in the story. Some of them will brainstowm with me and give me great ideas on how to move forward. Basically, it all comes down the that simple fact that I’m in love with the world I’ve created and want to spend every second of the day there.
SA: Rise to Power is the o/s that won the Volturi Challenge, along with Cedward’s 700 Years and 700 More. How was Rise to Power born and what possessed you to write about such a dispicable character?
Bianca: Haha…yes, Caius is the most unlikeable character out of them all. The way I wrote Rise to Power, with Athenodora actually having the upper hand, came from real life. Everyone knows that one guy; this obnoxious, loud-mouth, power-hungry creep that is waiting for you to mess up and tell the whole world about it. I’ve worked with a couple of them. I have a theory that men like that actually have no input whatsoever at home. I imagine the wives are in control, something that infuriates them even more. I always imagined Caius like that. He’s so angry for no good reason, he always want to get his way, he really loves the power being one of the Volturi brings. So the idea started forming in my mind, and turned into this o/s. I had a GREAT time writing it. I could go all out with the evil, no holding back. Caius has no redeeming qualities at all, and neither does Athenodora for that matter. It also ties in with Fallen Princess (yes…) I wanted to make sure everyone understood that they don’t love each other in the conventional way. Actually, I doubt they love each other at all. They do have common interests though, and their lust for power is what binds them together. Their relationship is therefore not as strong as the bond between vampires who are truly in love. This was important to showcase for the storylines of both Fallen Princess and Absolution.
SA: Can you give us any hints as to what the future holds for Lucy?
Bianca: What the future holds for Lucy…hmmm…Well, she’ll have to face her family again very soon. Apart from confronting her father and uncles, that also means coming face to face with Felix. It’ll be scary and emotional. She’s found hapiness now and is ready to move on. Whether or not she has the chance to do that remains to be seen…*evil laughter*
SA: What are some of your favorite fan fics right now?
Bianca: I’m actually on a reading ban until I finish my own stories. I just can’t seem to balance reading and writing. Updates I still run to read are: Distortion by Worldslinger, Stigmato Tomato by BellaFlan and Living Through It by Jules. All time favourites are Finding Forever by SusanAshlea and Becoming Bella Swan by BellaFlan. Both are completed now.
SA: You said you’ve always had an interest in vampires. Who is your all time favorite vampire and why?
Bianca: That would probably have to be Gary Oldman’s version of Dracula. There’s something about him in that movie that gives me shivers. The accent, the pure evil and the sad love story…I never tire of watching that one.
SA: Whos’ your second favorite?
Bianca: Felix! He has my heart. I love him to pieces. I’ve put him through so much and I’m ready to give him some happiness now.
SA: What are some of your favorite vampire/paranormal books that’ you’ve read in the past?
Bianca: My all time favorites would be the Anne Rice books. The world she’s created is dark and gritty, but also incredibly romantic and beautiful at the same time. Her vampires are so erotic and the way she describes drinking blood turns me into a puddle of goo. I should read them again.
SA: What’s next for you after you finish Fallen Princess and Absolution?
Bianca: Reading! Also, there is a good chance there will be a crackfic o/s of the hybrid girls Megan and Juliana. Especially Megan is too good of a character to pass up. Just imagine the many ways in which she can make Demetri’s life hell. At some point I would also like to start writing something original, ust to see if I can. I’ll never know unless I try.
SA: If you do dip your toe into the OF waters, what kind of stories might you write?
Bianca: Without a doubt it would be horror, or horror/erotica even. I don’t want to hold back. It would be full on, scary as hell, gory, and smutty horror. Rise to Power is actually quite similar to something I would write if I would do OF. I’ll go all out, no apologies, I have a twisted mind.
And with that, I will say…go check out Bforqueen’s self-proclaimed “twisted mind”! Her stories are beautifully written and addictive. Don’t forget to leave her a review and let her know you are reading!
