Paranormal Phenomenon
Halloween is right around the corner, so what better time to talk about some different kinds of paranormal phenomenon. With the popularity of Ghost Hunters and other similar television programs, there is more information available about different kinds of ghostly phenomenon.
EVP: Electronic Voice Phenomenon are electronically generated noises that resemble speech, but are not the result of intentional voice recordings or renderings. Many people believe all EVPs have supernatural origin, and it seems like evidence of them is springing up all over the place. Some ghost hunters even use what’s commonly referred to as a “ghost box” to communicate with spirits. The ghost box is really nothing more than a modified AM/FM radio that continuously produces white noise. For what it’s worth, I don’t put much stock into EVPs simply because every clip I see, we (the audience) are always being told what the disembodied voice said before we hear it, or there are subtitles on the screen, which makes me think the power of suggestion is the real culprit here. But just for fun, I decided to find some videos on you tube and let you be the judge.
Shadow People: are supernatural shadow-like figures of both modern folklore and paranormal popular culture that believers describe as dark humanoid forms or evasive specters that are seen mostly in peripheral vision. They are commonly regarded as malicious or evil spirits.
I have heard lots of stories of shadow people, and have even had my own encounter with a few at one of my old jobs. My encounter was fairly benign, but a friend of mine actually lived in a house that she insisted was inhabited with them. She, her husband and her then two year old son frequently witnessed shadows moving in and around the hallways, moving through walls and in and out of light fixtures. Whether they are malicious or not remains to be seen, but my friends didn’t live in that house for very long.

I’d rather see ghosts than shadow people. Shadow people tend to stick to things, around things, and they don’t give off a good vibe. Creepy.
Never considered EVP. I can’t usually figure out what the noise is until someone flashes the words at the bottom, which means they might be any noise. I’d have to hear something that I could suss out without interference from other humans before I’d believe it.
