Affiliate Spotlite: The Giggle/Snort Files

This month our featured affiliate is the very cool Giggle/Snort Files, home of the Giggle/Snort Awards. These girls are a riot, so please don’t pass this interview by. Without further adieu, I bring you our hilarious interview with the wonderful gals at G/S.

MVF: How did the Giggle/Snort awards come about?

GasawayAlley: One geekoid talked three frivolous-with-their-time followers into hosting an all funny awards extravaganza.

TwifanUK: Yeah, this is the result of me being bored one afternoon and deciding funny awards were needed. I tackled the other ladies and dragged them into the insanity…

Viola Cornuta: Meeting in person had a lot to do with my succumbing to their fiendish persuasion.

Islandwoman221:  Yup, let Jo (TwifanUK) lasso us into plying our funny for more than self-entertainment on the threads.

TwifanUK: You just couldn’t help but fall under our [drunken] spell…

Islandwoman221:  Ohhh, is that what it was… I thought it was just that we had way too darn much fun getting all witty together!

MVF: Can you tell us about the awards?

G: Funny stories get what’s coming to them. “Show me the funny, or the small fry gets it– see…”

T: It’s exactly what it says on the tin… if it’s funny it should be in the awards. Everyone needs a long hard… laugh… once in a while.

V: As attention whores ourselves, we want to make sure our sisters and brothers get their share of the pimping.

I:  And heaven knows we need all the endorphins we can get these days!  Giggles and O’s are just my favorite combination for finding them.  *mwha*

MVF: What made you branch out beyond Twilight?

G: To get more word-stalkers/serial-typists involved.

T: Yep, basically what G said. There’s a lot of talent in other fandoms, and we’d love for them to be part of the Giggle/Snort Alliance. Plus with Breaking Dawn on its way, Twilight may have had its heyday. It’s time for fresh blood – pun fully intended.

V: As Wavy Gravy said, “We’re all bozos on the bus, so we might as well sit back and enjoy the ride.”

I:  Since we’re such giving lovers… er love to share… er, well, we just couldn’t keep the sandbox fun all to ourselves any longer.

G: Just starting to dip our toes in other people’s infections.

T: I’m just getting involved with reading SVM fanfiction and have dabbled with the thought of writing my own outside of Twilight.

V: My gateway drug was Gilmore Girls. Many fine people felt 7 seasons was not enough.

I:  Not too much, though I’m finally beginning to feel the appeal… especially as I finally have started checking out other Vampdoms now that Twi has breached that door for me.

MVF: Do any of you write fan fiction?

G: Every lick of us.

T: Well, I put words on a page and then Ape cleans up the mess so it’s readable… (oh and you can see our stuff on our profiles @ http://www.gigglesnort.net/fiction)

V: Yes indeed, check out G/S and then read our not so specifically funny, but equally brilliant stuff,  @ fanfiction.net

I:  That we do, and a fine fun time we make of it when birthday season rolls around, especially!  Though I wouldn’t say we aim for the funny so much in our own work to this point… mostly focused on encouraging those who can go there full on.

MVF: Anything else you want to tell our readers about?

G: Be fruitful and type something multiple times.

T: Just that the main fiction archive is always looking for new talent from every fandom and original fiction. We’re really not that scary… ok, so Vi could scare the bejesus out of a grizzly at times… joking, joking! *hides*

V: Get a beta–not just your bestie, but someone who really knows how a sentence should be constructed.

I:  Pre-readers for content are gems and then what Vi’s fabs advised – a good technical beta. I’ve always found it helpful to let the first blush cool on my words so I can approach them again fresh for a deeper connection and take them to the next level.

T: And take your beta’s advice!!

I:  Yeah, don’t make them take our their grammar paddle!
