Secret Circle: Long time, no talk

Hey there! It’s so good to see YOU back here again. I’d like to thank my 4 readers for continuing on the Secret journey with me. I’m really loving this show and I hope more people start to tune in (to the show, that is…not necessarily my recaps. Although, I do enjoy an audience…)

Sorry for being so behind on the review/recap, but my meds aren’t working that great anymore so I’m falling into that whole procrastination station again. But all’s well that ends well and well…maybe that wasn’t the case on the latest epi. Let’s take a look-see, shall we?

Episode 4: Heather

Recap
At the end of last week’s episode we got the whole portentous “What your mother did was far worse than death…” thing from crazy Zachary. So, of course the kids had to follow up on that one, alone.  Because in Chance Harbor, who needs parents?  Cassie does some light internet stalking and discovers that Heather had/has a brother, who just so happens to live right down the road.  Diana is all about checking it out then OMG remembers right then that she has an appointment she can resched.  So, she forces Adam to take Cassie since this place is way not cool.

It’s and old fishing village. And apparently, all people who live in old fishing villages are evil, so Cassie can’t go without a boy witch escort.  They talk to Heather’s brother and somehow get him to allow them inside the house, which isn’t weird at all. But whatever. They see a catatonic Heather who hasn’t moved in 17 years until Cassie walks in the room, then she goes apeshiz.  That gets her bro’s hopes up and causes Heather and Adam to make GTFO, but not until after they see the weird scar on Heather’s arm that just so happens to be in Cassie’s rediscovered Book of Shadows. Of course, that means Cassie is going to chant some words she doesn’t understand while standing in front of a woman she doesn’t know with help from a girl she doesn’t like. That won’t end badly at all.

Diana was right when she forbade Cassie to do the “reversal” spell. Cassie resorted to getting help from Faye but the spell didn’t do anything…that they know of.  Turns out, Heather was being possessed by demons who were after Cassie’s mother’s power.  Unfortunately, the Cassie/Faye show ended up reversing the spell…which was put there in order to keep said demons silent. The newly awakened Heather ends up tracking down Cassie and Faye (Demons have wicked-awesome internal GPS).  Handily enough, there are no adults at Cassie’s house to help protect her and Faye from the Heather/Demon.  They almost bite it, but Nick and Melissa happen to see a troubled Faye through the bedroom windows while they are making out.  Diana and Adam call and hear Faye screaming over the phone. Everyone rushes over to Cassie’s house to help.  They fight Heather and then…

Heather gets run over by a car.  Really.  A car. And Heather’s brother is all “S’okay. She’s in peace.”  Not upset that he didn’t get to say goodbye or anything. I actually felt bad for the dude. He took care of his crazy catatonic possessed sister for 17 years and all he got was a demon induced concussion without so much as a, “hey it was really cool of you to watch over me for so long…”

Of course, the little slithery snakey demon of doom that was possessing Heather slithers right out of Heather’s dead body and hangs out on Nick’s jacket until it spies the opportune time to crawl into Melissa’s ear while she’s sleeping. *shivers*

Review
They aren’t screwing around with this show!  It was actually quite a suspensful episode and we are finally starting to flesh out a little about what the reason of the season has in store for us, plus bit by bit finding out about what happened 17 years ago.  I’m still curious what’s going on with Principal Mom & Gale Harold, but I’m sure there will be some filler episodes that will inform us.
So, have you been watching? If so, what you thinking so far?

  1. No, Diana did defintely seem a little upset that Cassie found her BoS. I think she is worried she won’t be the top dog anymore, because for so long she was the only one with any information about their heritage, now that Cassie has information too…

I’m in total agreement about the whole lack of adults on this show unless they’re needed for possibly creepy scenarios. Faye’s Mom and Diana’s Dad? Creepy factor because they’re totally hoping to use the kids power to recapture their own (I haven’t read the series but that’s my guess). Adam’s Dad – creepy factor because he’s fascinated with Cassie due to his whole “don’t mess with fate and I was fated to your mother the way you are to my son” thing. Heather and her brother? Totally creepy not just because of the whole catatonic demon possession and stalkerish brother vibe – but quick type up ending.

Cassie’s Grandma might be creepy but since she’s NEVER around I can’t really say yet. Although, given that she was Claire’s (save the cheerleader – save the world) mom from Heroes – I’m hoping she won’t be creepy if she ever does start to show up.

I’m also starting to get annoyed with Diana’s “know it all/told you so” attitude. She seemed a bit peeved to find out that Cassie found her own family’s book of shadows. Or was that just me?
