The Vampire Diaires: Disturbing Behavior

Episode 4: The end of the affair

We open this episode to Stefan, Gloria, Klaus and Rebecca talking in Gloria’s bar about the necklace and how she needs it to do her spell.  Something draws Stefan to the door, and when the bus has gone by on the street, Katherine is revealed to him just standing there on the sidewalk in broad daylight beckoning to him.  He excuses himself and meets her, after assuring himself that no one saw him or Katherine.  Katherine then states to Stefan, that she knows that the missing necklace that everyone is looking for that belonged to Rebecca 90 years prior, is in fact the same necklace that Stefan had given to Elena.  Gloria links up with Rebecca and tries a location spell on the necklace so that they can find it and bring it back, but while this is happening in Chicago, back in Mystic Falls Elena is talking to her girlfriends and making chili to try and deal with her heartbreak, the necklace burns her, and she takes it off and tries to give it to Bonnie and then it shocks her when she tries to touch it.  Gloria then tells Stefan at a later period, when it’s just the two of them, that she knows that he’s been lying to Klaus, and basically tells him that in exchange for her silence, she wants the necklace for herself.  When Stefan refuses to spill all the secrets and info that he’s been keeping, she then uses her magic to render him useless, binds him with a paralysis spell, and starts torturing him for the info that she wants, by slowly draining some of his spirit so that Gloria can see everything for herself, without Stefan’s assistance.  Just as she’s found the truth, that the doppleganger is in fact still alive, she dies by none other than (gasp) Katherine’s hand.  As they are cleaning up all evidence of Gloria’s spells and demise, Katherine states that in order to find out information on Klaus, to go through Rebecca and use her love for Stefan against them both.  Stefan refuses to let Katherine in on the fun either, stating he’s a one man operation kinda deal and shuts her down.  When next we see dear Stefan, he’s alone in the “tomb” where all the coffins are with Rebecca, seeing a golden opportunity, he starts questioning Rebecca about the hunter that chased them originally through the 20′s, then they kiss and Rebecca asks him if he’ll ever love another the way he loved the woman he lost and he replied maybe someday.  When Klaus walked into the room, Rebecca then turns on Stefan and tells Klaus that there is something wrong with Stefan and his loyalty, as he keeps questioning about “Michael”.  Klaus attacks him knocking him unconscious, and when Stefan awakes, he is in a small room with Klaus, and Klaus assures him that he’s not going to kill him, just that he’s curious as to what Stefan is still holding onto from his past…and that he’s going to find out.  With that, Klaus opens the doors, and low and behold they are in the back of a transport truck back in Mystic Falls.

Anna shows herself to Jeremy again, and starts talking to him, and asking if he can hear her or not, and explains that she’s been trying to contact him for days with no luck.  Then they both find out that they can only see each other and communicate with each other when both party’s are thinking, dreaming etc of each other.  After a very quick reunion between the two of them, the doorbell rings and Caroline, and Bonnie are at the door for Elena, to help her with her recent heartbreak.  When Jeremy sees Bonnie, he hugs and kisses her, then sees Anna’s reflection in the mirror watching them.  After a few scenes with Anna popping up randomly, and seeming to be helping our poor Jeremy figure out what he’s doing, they have a fallout.  Jeremy figures Anna is purposely trying to butt in anytime that he and Bonnie are together, so he gets po’d and shuts her out, then comes clean with Bonnie about his new ability to see ghosts.

Damon and the Sherriff visit Caroline’s Dad in the prison and tries compulsion on him to make him leave Mystic Falls with no memory of anything that had transpired over the last little while, thinking that he had just helped Caroline do her annual back to school shopping trip.  Later though, after a council meeting wraps up, Bill shows up with out apparently any lost memories, and asks everyone present if everybody on the council is that stupid or is Damon that good, that nobody else can see that he’s a vampire.  Because of this, Damon then wants to just completely kill Bill because he’s afraid that Bill will carry through with his threats of contaminating the city’s water supply with vervane, and outing Damon as a vampire to everyone.  After Damon breaks Alaric’s neck (not for real) he then goes back into the building and starts snacking on our friend (not) Bill, while roughing him up a bit.  Just when it seems that Damon may have actually stepped off the deep end, Caroline swoops into the rescue (after a very crappily timed phone call from Elena) and saves her Dad from Damon, then basically lays a beating on Damon as well, warning him away from her father.  All the while Damon is frustrated because he feels that everyone (mostly Elena) is trying to make him be something he’s not, and basically trying to keep control of his behaviour.  A few times through the episode, it was mentioned on both Damon’s end and Elena’s end, that there is some very obvious vibes going back and forth between them.  Caroline warns Elena away from Damon, and Alaric tries to warn Damon away from Elena.

This entire episode was based on basically two key things: Damon and Elena’s very apparent so called “non feelings” for each other, and the necklace.  I’m pretty sure, that we are going to see some kind of romance blossom between Elena and Damon (Oh, I hope!) in the future…I just can’t see Elena jumping back into Stefan’s arms after that kind of a hurt.  You never know though…all of us ladies are guilty of making at least one stupid heart-based decision in our past, lets just hope that we don’t get bit on the behind in the future for past mistakes, like how I think is going to happen in this season with a few of our lead players…
Until next week my friends, please feel free to leave comments! :)
