What’s on My Bookshelf? By Victorian Vamp

The holiday season is gearing up. I always think that this year will be different and that I will have a lot of time to read and relax while I am enjoying a few vacation days off from work. It never happens. What does happen is that I run around all over the place and end up in an exhausted heap somewhere in the middle of my bed under a lot of covers. If I do find some time to read during this holiday season, here is what is on my “To Be Read” shelf…

This book feeds the Victorian literature addict in me. Yes, I am a nerd. But I love, love, love Dickens. So, this new bio is making me very happy right now!

I just discovered this series and will be reviewing this first volume on  MVF soon! I can’t wait to start reading it–historical setting, sexy vampires…what’s not to love?

I haven’t seen the television series, but my friends have been telling me about this book for years (yes, this is the old cover…but it is the version that I have). I actually started reading this one several years ago. I loved it, but my copy (while reading was in progress) was lost in my move to Tampa. I started school soon after and never had a chance to pick it up again. So, I am excited about this one, too.

This is another book that I have wanted to read for a very long time. Alice Borchardt is Anne Rice’s sister. Though some reviews of the book are not kind, I think that I will like it (most of the criticisms are about issues that I don’t mind reading about in a novel). Apparently, this is the first in a series of werewolf books written before Borchardt’s death; so, if I like it, there are others to follow…and that always makes me happy.  :)

  1. I can’t wait to read the Martin books! I remember loving what I had read, so this is bound to be a treat!

  2. I have a few books lined up to read during the Holidays. And I should be able to read them all, specialy because I´ll be off from work for two weeks in January. But like you, I always get caught up on something else, visiting family members, sleeping or watching whatever is on tv and the books tend to stay unread. The two first books of A Song of Ice and Fire are on my list so I hope I can read at least the first one!
